Cheshire found the going tough batting first and were struggling badly at 21-5, until Oxton's Steve Hurworth (47) gave the innings some much-need impetus. The visitors were eventually dismissed for 121. Staffs replied with 77-1 and looked assured of victory when the heavens opened and heavy rain saw the match abandoned.
