CHESHIRE STRENGTHEN FOR NEW SEASON
By Neil Goulding
CHESHIRE's Chairman of Cricket Gerry Hardstaff has revealed that
the county have signed two new players as they gun for honours
in the Minor Counties Western Division and MCCA Knockout Cup this
season.
Hardstaff has worked tirelessly over the winter to recruit new
talent following the departure of former Hampshire all-rounder
Simon Renshaw and also Graeme Archer, unavailable this season
because of work commitments.
And he is pleased to announce that former Derbyshire duo Nathan
Dumelow and Steve Selwood have been registered to play, both of
whom are playing for Oulton Park in the Murray Smith Accountants
Cheshire County League ECB Premier Division this season.
Batsman Selwood, 25, and 23-year-old off-spinner Dumelow are both
looking to shine for their new county, with former Lancashire
batsman Mark Currie also amongst the ranks.
"We've been looking for new players to strengthen the team
and we've decided to register Nathan and Steve," revealed
Hardstaff.
"Mark said he was going to play for us after being released
from Lancashire, so it's good we've managed to replace Simon Renshaw
and Graeme Archer.
"We are going to miss Graeme because he was such an important
player for us last season, but Nathan and Steve come very highly
recommended."
